Exmouth Christmas Lights 2004
EXMOUTH Mayor Trevor Cope and Gemini radio presenter Rachael Hicks lit up the town when they flicked the switch for the annual Christmas illuminations.
More than 1,000 people packed into The Strand Gardens for the ceremony to herald the start of the festive season.
The event took place beside the traditional town Christmas tree sponsored by Devon Cliffs holiday park owners Bourne Leisure.
Ceremonial switch-on
The ceremonial switch-on included the launch of lights around Exmouth town centre.
The lights have been erected by members of Exmouth Chamber of Commerce who donated the £5,000 to fund them.
The switch-on ceremony also included a performance by Exmouth Town Band.
Late-night shopping in Exmouth takes place on Friday, December 17 when shops will be open until 8pm.
Sunday shopping for Christmas customers will also be available from 10am to 4pm on December 5,12 and 19.
The Christmas lights will remain in place throughout the festive season before being taken down in January.
