Axminster cast set to survive on a wild island

The cast of Neville

The cast of Neville's Island get comfortable

Archant

When four out of condition businessmen go on a light-hearted, team-building exercise in the Lake District, little do they imagine the hazards in store for them.

Out of their comfort zone and inadequately prepared for survival in the wilds, a voyage of discovery flounders before it’s scarcely begun, and another one takes its place.

Neville, Gordon, Angus and Roy lurch darkly and inexpertly from crisis to hysterical crisis. Foggy minds in a cold and foggy November climate.

This terrific play is outstandingly performed by a cast of accomplished actors, one of whom is a seasoned professional. They all have the ability to deliver any emotion to the nth degree. Dark moments, poignancy and drama wrapped in wicked laughter make this a comedy to remember.

Tim Firth, penned this masterpiece back in 1992 and it is regularly staged to enthusiastic and highly appreciative audiences. He also wrote the screenplay to the immensely successful Calendar Girls.

Neville’s Island will be performed at the Guildhall, Axminster from Thursday September 4, to Saturday, September 6, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available at Archway Bookshop, Church Street, Axminster – 01297 33595 (After hours tel: 01404 831089).

They are priced at £8 in advance or £10 on the door.
