Exmouth Musical Theatre Company are still on a high after their stunningly successful run of the Madness musical, Our House, But they have no time to relax as they are already rehearsing for their new production, the Broadway sensation that is Little Shop of Horrors!
EMCo are famous for their high quality productions and their versatility, and have recently brought us such memorable shows as Singing in the Rain, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hello Dolly and Sweet Charity. But Little Shop of Horrors is a massive challenge even for these seasoned and talented performers. Directed by Martin John Nicholls they aim to bring to life a 1960s science fiction magazine live on stage, complete with its plucky under-dog hero, the beautiful and innocent damsel in distress, the sadistic villain and… the huge alien talking plant!
The show, which will run at the Exmouth Pavilion from November 27-30, became a cult classic and was made into a Hollywood feature film for its clever, quirky script and very funny storylines. Set in Skid Row, down town New York, its songs are rooted in the era and explode with echoes of early soul, motown and rock and roll. No wonder this amazing show is so loved by millions. “The show is a joy from start to finish,” says director, Martin John Nicholls, “It’s rocking, it’s shocking, it’s hilarious… and it’s carnivorous! You won’t believe your eyes!”
Those who know Little Shop will be queuing for seats – in fact they are selling already. You can book yours now by phoning 01395 222477 or visiting the Pavilion Theatre website at www.ledtickets.co.uk
