A wide-ranging programme to include works by Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and Janacek will be presented by the pianist Simon Watterton in Colyton.
Simon has given a number of concerts here over the last few years, both on his own and with the violinist Anna Cashel, with whom he made his last appearance.
For this recital, Anna will be joining him again to play Beethoven’s Spring sonata for violin and piano.
During the summer of 2009 Simon performed the entire cycle of Beethoven sonatas, which earned him the label “…a genuine Beethoven pianist” – an opinion which has been amply confirmed in his various visits to Colyton.
Now based in London, his playing has been described as “…intelligent, well-paced and robustly good-humoured” – qualities which would serve any composer well.
The programme will also include Schubert’s A Major sonata D664
To be able to hear artists of this stature in such an attractive programme for £6 is an extraordinary offer – and a lovely way to welcome in the spring !
The concert will take place on Sunday, March 3, at St Andrew’s Church, starting time 3.30pm. Tickets £6 on the door, children free
