Axminster Operatic Society is busy rehearsing for Another opening, another show – with a production of Cole Porter’s classical comedy musical, Kiss Me Kate.
It will be performed at Axminster Guildhall between Wednesday, November 20, and Saturday, November 23, with a matinee performance also on the Saturday.
Director Denise Churchett said: “This is Cole Porter at his best – genuinely funny and packed full of great songs which are known to many.
“From the beautifully lyrical So In Love to the jazzy Too Darn Hot and of course Brush Up Your Shakespeare, which will put a smile on everyone’s face.
“The show has it all – great action, fantastic dancing and wonderful songs, it’s an evening not to be missed!”
Costumes have again been made by wardrobe mistress Maureen Yell.
These were first seen at Axminster Carnival, where they made an instant impact.
Tickets will be on sale at the Archway Bookshop from October 21 onwards or at the box office on the night. Book early to avoid disappointment is the advice.
Meanwhile the society travelled to Mapperton Gardens for its photo shoot.
Secretary Rose Harvey said: “It was thanks to the kind permission of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich. The costumes looked absolutely stunning against the backdrop of the Italianate garden there.”
