Writer Daniel Jamieson has taken Dickens’ cracking story and its fabulous cast of characters, and wittily translated them to 2013.

Nell Trent lives with her grandfather, a selfish and fading hippy with a gambling problem, above The Curiosity Shop, now a vintage record store.

When Nell and her grandfather are evicted from their home by a malignant loan shark named Quilp, they end up on the road and on the run in cities, towns and villages across England.

The story has satire, comedy and tragedy by the bucket load, a vivid palette of characters and a deep sympathy for the underdog. But this is also a romping, emotionally rich and immensely enjoyable show – audiences will have much to relish and laugh at in this playfully staged adaptation that also features giant film projections and a thrilling, eclectic soundtrack of popular music.

Appearing at the Northcott on Friday, March 8 - Saturday, March 16, at 7.30pm. 01392 493 493.
