Traditional fair aims to attract the crowds in Stockland
18:30 20 May 2014
One of the biggest traditional English fairs in Devon is set to take place on bank holiday Monday.
Stockland Fair will be offering a host of different attractions as part of the annual event.
The ancient village is the setting for this one-day traditional, family oriented English fair, originally granted by King Henry III to the Manor of Stockland in 1252.
The fair is held in the grounds of Stockland Victory Hall, with parking provided close by with the generous help of local landowners.
Stockland Fair offers an afternoon of family fun featuring traditional games and entertainments, rural crafts and displays.
The star attraction is always the Famous Stockland Eggathon, which is eagerly awaited every year, and, yes, it is real eggs they are throwing. Once seen never forgotten and a side splitting entertainment. The record stands at 93 feet.
The fair is due to start at 1.30pm
