Richie Evans Music (www.richieevansmusic.com) will soon be promoting a series of intimate acoustic evenings at Exmouth Pavilion Theatre’s cafe bar featuring some of the finest acoustic performers currently playing in south-west England.

The first of these concerts, on Tuesday, October 16, features the remarkable talent that is Tobias Jacob.

Tobias Jacob is an alternative folk singer-songwriter drawing influence from artists such as Low Anthem, King Creosote, Bon Iver and Nick Drake. As well as classic songwriters like Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

Tobias plays acoustic guitar in altered tunings and an antique ‘street pedal organ’, a type of harmonium once favoured by preachers and salvation army bands to sing on street corners. As a writer he is interested in the English Imagination, not as it is narrowly defined by the folk style but as it finds expression in the culture as a whole, in our artists, poets, thinkers and visionaries...

His most recent solo release Hard Times in Old London City was recorded at Livingston Studios with Sonny, a producer/engineer who has worked on Mercury and Grammy nominated albums. Sonny also played bass on the EP and John Elliot (The Little Unsaid) added grand piano and electronic textures. Tobias also plays in the five-piece band Lampliter and prior to that in The Roots Union with Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin. He is currently working on a stripped down solo record in his home studio on the edge of Dartmoor.
