Jurassic thoughts

Someone, in some far away place, decided that Exmouth was at the western end of the Jurassic coast. Then, someone thought that this would give a boost to the tourist trade in Exmouth if we erected the monument which we call the Geoneedle; £400,000 of public money is being spent to enhance the site.

There is no cable car to take us there. Coaches cannot get there. Only fit walkers can get to the site. When you arrive, there is nothing of the Jurassic land formation to see.

It would make sense if, instead of demolishing the Elizabeth Hall, we moved our town museum there and provide a lecture theatre with a screen showing, continuously, the Jurassic Story. Surely that would attract coach parties to Exmouth for a day out.

Why despoil the turning circle at Orcombe Point by removing the roundabout, thus making turning round difficult, just to explain the Jurassic coast.

Can millions of years of pre-history be explained on a board? Please do not be in a hurry, East Devon District Council, to make irreversible changes in order to get money from developers.
