If you have ever wondered how you would manage out in the wilds with little more than your wits to sustain you, take a peek at the quartet – clued-up or clueless – ‘enjoying’ an impromptu sojourn (shipwrecked) on Neville’s Island.

It is early November in the Lake District and four out-of-condition businessmen in middle management are sent off on a team-building exercise in foggy Derwentwater.

They end up visiting an inhospitable little island where they are forced to remain in equally inhospitable weather.

Threatened from all sides, not least from within, by various wildlife on land, water and air, Gordon, Angus, Roy and Neville descend into a damp, desperate and bloody fight for survival.

Sometimes it is touching, poignant, dark and dramatic, but never dull.

There is laughter galore in the deliciously inventive plots.

This is a wickedly funny comedy from the pen of Tim Firth who later wrote the highly successful Calendar Girls.

Neville’s Island will be performed at The Guildhall, Axminster, from Thursday, September 4, until Saturday, September 6, at 7.30pm.

Tickets available at The Archway Bookshop, Church Street, Axminster - 01297 33595 (after hours tel: 01404 831089) adults £8 in advance, £10 on the door.
